Our 21 months old daughter is on shorter side and I was afraid the shoes would be too tall for her.S he also has high arch and wide foot. They fit her really good. These shoes do not have thick insolation on the bottom, but it does not seem to be a problem so far. We had few 25F mornings and her feet were warm after we got inside after 2 hours. But she walks and runs most of the time, so as long as you keep moving, you stay warm :).She is able to put them on/off without any problem. She loves to play in water and she can do it with these shoes. The soles are pretty hard to my liking. More flexibility seems to be better and more comfortable for walking, but as I watch her, she does not seem to have a problem with it. These should be good shoes for winter and early spring (we live in western NC). I gave it four stars because of the hard sole.Update 1/25/2014We had some cold weather in WNC. Here is a little update on these shoes which our daughter loves.*around 20F (no wind, sunny) - one pair of regular thickness socks - after hour of walking outside her feet were still warm*around 15F (no wind, sunny) - two pairs of regular thickness socks (we bought her size bigger shoes so she has a space for extra sock or her foot to grow) - after half an hour her feet were still warm, we had more issue with cold fingers and face*around 10F (no wind, sunny) - two pairs of regular thickness socks - after 20 minutes her feet were still warm. We did one pair of socks for 20 minutes and her feet were cold, not freezing, but enough to bother her since her fingers and face were cold also.Overall...still really good shoes for our weather...keep her feet warm and dry and the hard shoe's soles do not seem to be a problem.Update 9/2015:We have bought another pair of these shoes for last winter. My girl was 3 years old. She did not have any trouble to walk in the shoes, but started to have problem with water from melted snow getting inside. She jumped and ran more through puddles and wet snow comparing to year before. She had winter pants or rain pants with elastic at the bottom, but still her shoes were getting wet. The bottom part under ankles is waterproof, the part above it is water resistant, but probably not too much. The waterproof part should be above their ankles. We ended up using rubber boots during melting season. So I would use it only for dry winter or not wet snow winter, which means "not good all winter boots".I would give these a 5 because they are almost exactly what I was looking for. I have a very large 17month old boy and he is just moving into 6's now. Once I get the boots on they are the perfect all weather boot.I was worried that they wouldn't keep my son's feet warm enough in the cold north east weather.. But after 30 minutes of snowy/icy outdoor play, when I took his boots off his toes were toasty warm. So excited because they will be great rain boots as well. Like I said great all weather boots.Pros:Keeps warm in very cold weather, surprisinglyOnce on plenty of room for his hefty feet and legsLove the Velcro wide strap, can adjust if need to wear boots over pantsEasy to cleanAdorable Style and color (we got the green ones)Not bulky, he walks in them like normal shoesCons:Almost couldn't get them on, they are wide enough in the foot area but they have an odd narrow opening that is a struggle everytime I put these boots on him. It seems to be getting easier but not by much.. Maybe I just have to get the hang of angling my son's foot properly? Not sure... Either way it's a shame because I was looking for something I could just slide him in if he wanted to go outside in a hurry.Don't get me wrong I am keeping these boots and would even buy them again as he grows...these are the only snow boots I have found that are not bulky and awkward for my son and yet still keep his feet super warm. Just wish they popped on his feet more easily.I did not want to size up and get the 7s because I feel they would have been too big where his foot is...My son is 5 and normally wears a 1, but i purchased in a 2 to last him until next winter. They are very spacious, but didn't cause him to trip up or complain. They have a cute polka dot pattern on white on the inside of the boots and are extremely light and comfortable according to my son. I was a little surprised at the lack of insulation and cannot truly attest to how warm they are because I didn't want to chance it and decided to have him wear some very thick socks with them. His feet stood perfectly warm and completely dry while playing in the snow for a couple of hours. I plan to have him use them for the rain as well.My 6 yr. old son says they are comfortable, and he has wide feet with a high instep, yet can put them on by himself with no problems. If you need to get out the door fast, these are for you. I also like the color combinations- they look preppy. Granted, I put my hand inside and noticed there doesn't seem to be any padding on the sole, but kids have more natural padding on their footbed, so I don't think it bothers them like it does adults. He wrote them all day and I constantly asked him if his feet were wet or hurting, and he always said no. I did get them 2 sizes too big as I'm not sure he won't have a growth sport this winter!I wanted to purchase a winter boot for my son that was more durable and supportive than those $20 plastic rain boots that seem to fall apart just a few times wearing them. The challenge was there are few middle-of-the-road boots, either there were $20 cheap rain boots or $100+ expensive rain/snow boots, such as Sorel's. I found these boots on Amazon and was surprised to read the positive feedback. When they arrived my son fell in love with these boots, he was most excited about the color, fit and feel, also that he as able to put on these boots by himself. I was a little cautious about buying Crocs since they tend to run wide, but these boots run more true to size. I will purchase another pair of these next year when my son grows out of these shoes.hook and loop tape started to come unstuck every now and then. that caused my daughter a lot of trouble running. These boots look absolutely great unfortunately they didn't even go on my 15 month boy's feet. He has wide feet so I thought these would be great. They look very roomy. Unfortunately the hole where you put your foot in it is so small that I couldn't get his foot in it at all! He has a high instep. I really thought that since these boots have a Velcro fastening then they would open up more but they don't! I will be sending these back.I take a uk size 2 or euro size 34. I ordered a pair of size 2 and she received on the bottom it said 33/34 so a bit smaller than I would have got if I'd been able to try them on. However, a couple of plasters and much thinner socks and they're OK. It's the heel ridge that catches and produces blisters. Will buy the larger size next time. They are lightweight and easy to put on.Downside: not very warm, even with winter socks. And they are not water proof!??!!? My son came back today with soaking wet and cold feet.Lovely bootsSoft lining, look lovely and nice and solidGreat choice for my wife footed toddlerA bit difficult to get his foot in would be my only negative (but still much easier than welly boots!!)Already have a friend buying the same!
